Young midfielder Caleb Watts has joined League One outfit Morecambe on loan for the 2022/23 season.

The Australia Under-23 international signed a new deal at St Mary’s last October after a string of impressive performances for the B team, before joining Crawley for the second half of 2021/22.

However, a hamstring injury curtailed the 20-year-old’s stint with the Reds to just one appearance, with Watts now looking to gain valuable first team experience after returning to full fitness.

The Shrimps finished 19th in their first-ever season in the third tier, with Derek Adams’s side looking to build on a positive campaign.

The club wishes Caleb well for the upcoming season and looks forward to monitoring his progress whilst out on loan.
