James Ward-Prowse stole the show with a hat-trick of accolades at the 2021/22 Southampton Football Club Player Awards.

Votes were cast across both the Men’s and Women’s First Teams, while there were also prestigious awards on offer in the Academy and Girls’ Regional Talent Club.

Saints skipper Ward-Prowse dominated the men’s honours, going one better than last year by completing a unique treble.

The midfielder repeated last year’s feat by picking up the Sportsbet.io Fans’ Men’s Player of the Season award alongside the hummel Players’ Player award, as voted by his teammates.

This season he went one better by helping himself to a third award in the shape of the Drive Personnel Men’s Goal of the Season for his sensational long-range free-kick at Wolves.

It caps another outstanding season for the long-serving Academy graduate, who has reached double figures for goals for the first time in his career.

Elsewhere, Terry Paine’s President’s Choice Award went to 19-year-old defender Tino Livramento, who made a hugely positive impact in his first season in senior football, which was cruelly cut short by injury after making 32 appearances.

Terry Paine said: “When he gets on the ball, you can hear that little buzz that goes through the crowd, because he wants to attack the opposition and produce that final ball that’s so important. At 18 when he first came in, this is his first full year in the Premier League, and he’s created such a good impression. I do think that potentially he has a very, very bright future.”

In the Women’s team prizes, the Sportsbet.io Fans’ Player of the Season award went to defender Laura Rafferty, a consistent performer in a Saints defence that conceded just 13 goals all season in the triumphant FA Women’s National League campaign.

The hummel Players’ Player award went to 17-year-old attacking midfielder Lucia Kendall, whose creativity and finishing prowess helped the Southern Premier Division champions rack up 99 goals in their 26 league outings.

Goalkeeper Kayla Rendell was the unlikely winner of the Women’s Goal of the Season award, having scored a dramatic last-gasp equaliser in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth round against Ipswich.

Finally, 17-year-old striker Dominic Ballard scooped the prestigious Scholar of the Year prize for a prolific season with the club’s Under-18s and B Team, also earning recognition from England Under-17s and a first professional contract for his efforts.
