Scoring the only goal of the game at Vicarage Road, Ché Adams reflects on Southampton’s vital 1-0 victory over Watford in the Premier League.

Adams’ sublime 20th minute strike was the difference as Saints claimed their first away win in the league this season.

“I’m just happy we got over the final hurdle,” said the goal scorer. “I think we defended well, and we deserved to win.

“We had a lot of chances in the first and second-half, but we didn’t manage to put them away. I think it’s a well-deserved three points and on to Friday now.

“Three points get you everything so to pick them up on the road is even better. Hopefully we can build on this now and keep going.

“Every game is going to be hard and intense. The more we work and the more we pull together in the right direction, we’ll get over the line and pick up as many wins as we can.

“We heard them [the fans] all game. They were brilliant. I think we just need to keep building now. We’ve got the fans back at St Mary’s now so hopefully we can build on that and get the three points at home.”
