It’s been a week of recovery and regrouping for Saints this week, looking forward to a return to action after 14 days off.

A further seven days have passed since Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side last played a league game, a consecutive 9-0 victory this time over Hounslow.

Goals from Leeta Rutherford, Sophia Pharoah, Georgie Freeland, Shelly Provan, an Ella Pusey double and a Ciara Watling hat-trick secured a dominant display at the start of the month.

London Bees have had a mixed start to the new campaign, winning two, drawing one and losing three of their opening six games.

Their last league outing saw them on the wrong end of a heavy defeat to Crawley Wasps at home; Florence Gamby getting the only goal for the hosts.

MANAGER’S NOTES

“Please come along,” said Spacey-Cale in a message to the fans. “I think the girls really thrive under the support we’ve had up to this point. To get more there would really give the players a boost.

“London Bees are going to be a tough challenge; they’ve just come down from the Championship so we’re under no illusions of the game it’s going to be.

“But to have the support and some really strong, passionate Southampton supporters alongside us giving their support may give us the edge that we need.

“It’s home [at Snows Stadium] and every time you go home you want to see more people there. You hope that those who have been before spread the word to others and create another fanbase.

“It creates a competitive atmosphere for the players. Not only are we striving for the three points we want to perform for the people that are going out there and watching us.”
