Saints Foundation is delighted to announce Marieanne Spacey-Cale and James Beattie as their newest charity ambassadors.
After years of supporting the charity, Beattie and Spacey-Cale have become official ambassadors to help push the message of Saints Foundation’s work to more people across Southampton and beyond.
The pair have already got out into the community – last week, they joined a group of older people for a walking session at Riverside Park. The celebration was two-fold as the walking session marked one of the very first opportunities for Senior Saints participants to exercise and socialise together in person in 2021.
Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE is currently Head of Girls and Women’s Football at Southampton FC, and Head Coach of Saints’ Women’s Team. During her career as an international footballer, Spacey-Cale collected 91 England caps and is considered one of our country’s greatest footballers of all time.
James Beattie enjoyed a prolific career as a professional footballer, notably whilst playing for Saints between 1998 and 2005. He made more than 200 appearances and is one of the top goal scorers in the club's history. He has gone on to work as a coach and assistant manager at several professional clubs.
Marieanne Spacey-Cale commented: “I’m absolutely honoured to be asked to be an ambassador for Saints Foundation. For me, the work the Foundation does is all about being a being a good person, and helping others.”
“I’m really excited to become an ambassador," James Beattie added. "The Foundation has done good work for a number of years. [They’ve] become a shining light and a way forward, an example to other people, and other clubs and organisations, about how you can make that community tie really strong.”
