Midfielder James Ward-Prowse today picked up the prestigious Virgin Media Fans’ Player of the Season award, after supporters voted him as the star performer of the 2020/21 campaign.
The Saints captain received almost 50 per cent of the total vote, coming in ahead of Stuart Armstrong and Kyle Walker-Peters, as he earned the prize for the first time.
Ward-Prowse was presented with the award in front of supporters ahead of the Leeds United match, with just under 8,000 fans being welcomed back to St Mary’s.
It caps a fine season for the skipper, who has once again been an ever-present in the team throughout the campaign, while registering nine goals and seven assists from midfield.
Ward-Prowse will no doubt be a contender for further success in this season’s Player Awards, with details of additional prizes to come soon.
