Women's Report: Saints 4-1 Ipswich

Southampton FC Women continued their preparations for next month’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup tie against Birmingham City with a 4-1 friendly win over Ipswich Town at St Mary’s.

Saints took the lead against their National League Division One South East opponents on 20 minutes through Sophia Pharoah.

This lead was doubled 15 minutes later, Ella Pusey continuing her rich goalscoring form this campaign.

It took just two minutes for Saints to add a third; Pharaoh with her second of the afternoon in what was the final piece of goalmouth action of the half.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale made changes to her side for the second 45, but the intensity and professionalism of the performance remained the same.

Rachel Panting, fresh off of her wonder strike at Lewes, adding Saints’ fourth of the afternoon on 49 minutes following a dangerous corner.

The final strike of the afternoon fell in favour of the visitors, substitute Lucy O’Brien fouled inside the box before Paige Peake grabbed a goal back from the penalty spot.
