Saints to join social media boycott

Southampton Football Club will unite with The FA, Premier League, EFL, FA Women’s Super League, FA Women’s Championship, PFA, LMA, PGMOL, Kick It Out, Women in Football and the FSA for a social media boycott from 3pm on Friday 30th April to 11.59pm on Monday 3rd May, in response to the ongoing and sustained discriminatory abuse received online by players and many others connected to football.

This has been scheduled to take place across a full fixture programme in the men’s and women’s professional game and will see clubs across the Premier League, EFL, WSL and Women’s Championship switch off their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Youngsters fall to West Brom defeat

Saints suffered an Under-18 Premier League defeat on Saturday, as West Brom came away from Staplewood Campus with a 3-1 victory.

The Baggies took the lead after 13 minutes when Reyes Cleary’s deep cross was glanced in by Layton Love, before Cleary converted a penalty during a strong opening half an hour for the visitors.

Saints started the second half strongly, with a goal from Luke Pearce on 56 minutes, but the influential Cleary struck again three minutes later as Albion took the points.

Saints join Virgin Media to launch virtual football academy

Southampton are joining forces with Virgin Media to launch the Virgin Media Football Academy, a series of lesson plans, training videos and a special live lesson designed with experts from our proud Academy to help teachers and pupils bounce back into physical education after months of school closures due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Saints players including club captain James Ward-Prowse and fellow England international Theo Walcott – both Staplewood graduates – as well as manager Ralph Hasenhüttl and Saints coaches, will lead live drills to get schoolchildren active.

Working in collaboration with the National Schools Partnership (NSP), Virgin Media has provided hundreds of schools across the UK with pre-prepared football-focused lesson plans and video tutorials to keep schoolchildren active and reduce teachers’ workload following the reopening of schools in March.

Take part in our Summer Golf Day

Get ready for a round with your fellow Saints fans with our Summer Golf Day at the picturesque Stoneham Golf Club on Friday 16th July.

Special guests for the day are to be confirmed, with four packages available – a single game is just £75, ranging up to a 4-ball available for £250. Book now to secure your place or register your interest for future events by e-mailing hospitality@saintsfc.co.uk.

Premier League to launch ePremier League China

The Premier League, in partnership with Tencent Sports, Tencent Gaming and EA SPORTS, is launching ePremier League China later this month, the first ePremier League event to be staged outside the UK.

Some of the best Chinese gamers on EA SPORTS FIFA Online 4 will represent all 20 Premier League clubs alongside hand-picked content creators and influencers. They will compete together in a group stage to determine who reaches the finals in May. The tournament will be streamed live by Tencent across China and kicks off on Wednesday 28th April.

Matches will be played on EA SPORTS FIFA Online 4 (FO4) on PC, which has more than 10 million registered players in China. Saints will be represented in the tournament by two local players – one high-ranking gamer on the FO4 leaderboard and one influencer.
