Monday night sees the rearranged 2019/20 Hampshire FA Senior Cup semi-final take place at the Silverlake Stadium, with Saints’ youngsters travelling to Eastleigh.
Saints secured their semi-final place with a win over National League South side Havant & Waterlooville back in February.
Dave Horseman’s side stormed into a 2-0 lead inside four minute through goals from Kornelius Hansen and Caleb Watts, with Ramello Mitchell adding a third before a late Havant consolation.
Eastleigh also made it through to the semis with a 3-1 win, beating Bashley FC in January away from home.
A double from Jack McKnight and a further effort from youngster Tom Bearwish secured the result.
LAST MEETING
The two sides last met during pre-season of the 2019/20 campaign at the Silverlake, with Saints winning 1-0 at the end of July.
Dan N’Lundulu grabbed the winner during the second half as Saints’ youngsters continued their PL2 preparation.
The side which took to the field that day included the likes of Harry Lewis, Callum Slattery and Tom O’Connor, watched on by current coach Dave Horseman from the stands.
Eastleigh’s side contained a mixture of first team regulars and youthful prospects; Cavaghn Miley, Sam Smart and Bearwish all featuring.
MANAGER’S NOTES
Ahead of another tournament for his side, Horseman said: “It brings along some really good game time for the ones who haven’t had a lot at the moment.
“We have a group of 15 or 16 players who deserve game time, so they need this to practise what we’ve been working on.
“It’s going to be a really tough game, the first game I watched with Saints was the Eastleigh friendly in the summer and I thought they were really good.
“They’ve got players who have played league football, they’re full time. I think it will be a really, really tough game against a National League team which are playing at a really high level for our young lads, but one we’re looking forward to.”
