Prepare for the week ahead with the latest Southampton news from St Mary's and Staplewood Campus...
Saints secure victory at Burnley
Southampton picked up their first win of the Premier League season on Saturday, leaving Burnley with a 1-0 win.
Danny Ing’s fifth-minute strike against his former club was enough to secure all three points, with the striker taking his tally to the season to three.
Saints will host West Brom at home on Sunday, looking to head into the international break with back-to-back wins.
Baggies clash to be shown on BT Sport
Sunday’s meeting with West Brom at St Mary’s will be shown live on BT Sport.
Following the announcement that a phased return of fans to stadiums is on hold, all Premier League fixtures that fall on the first weekend of October will now be televised.
Originally due to take place on Saturday, the fixture will now be played out a day later, kicking off at midday BST.
Women shine in streamed fixture
Southampton FC Women continued their 100% start to the 2020/21 season with an impressive 5-1 win over Buckland Athletic, streamed live courtesy of Virgin Media.
Supporters were able to watch the FA Women’s National League South West encounter live on the club’s YouTube and Facebook channels, with Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side producing an entertaining display.
An Ella Pusey hat-trick, Alisha Ware strike and an own goal made up the scoring.
B team pegged back by West Ham
Southampton's B team fell victim to a second half comeback from visiting West Ham in Premier League 2, drawing 2-2 to a late penalty at Staplewood Campus.
A Dan N’Lundulu brace put the hosts in the driving seat at half-time, as Dave Horseman’s side proved good value for their lead.
However, Oladapo Afolayan reduced the arrears before Conor Coventry converted from the spot late on to force a draw.
