Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse and last season's leading scorer Danny Ings will will kick off their 2020/21 UEFA Nations League campaign with England tonight, 5pm BST, starting with a trip to face Iceland in Reykjavik.

The Three Lions have not been in action since thumping Kosovo 4-0 in their final Euro 2020 qualifier last November, with this outing representing Ings's first selection since 2016, where he gained his one and only senior cap to date.

Ward-Prowse, comparativley, was involved in the international set-up back in March 2019, during England's successful Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.

The call-up for the Nations League double-header with Iceland and Denmark is no less than the Saints pairing deserve, having enjoyed particularly fruitful seasons under Ralph Hasenhuttl during 2019/20 - Ings as leading marksmen and Ward-Prowse emerging with the armband following a Premier League campaign where he was an ever-present fixture.

To have the season I have just had, I have given myself something to build on. I do feel my best football is going to be in the years to come.

Ings, speaking about the opportunity, described walking back into St George’s Park after four years away like the 'first day back at school' during a recent interview, and will compete with the likes of Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford and Tammy Abraham for a spot on the field of play tonight.

Also in action is defender Jannik Vestergaard, and with Iceland and England making up the remainder of Group 2 (League A), both Denmark and opposing nation Belgium will be keen to get their tournaments off to a strong start.

Denmark are unbeaten in their last 15 matches in all competitions, but face a formidable Belgian side, who boast the firepower of Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne, to name but a few.
