Southampton signed off the 2020/21 season in style with another victory yesterday. Here’s our weekly round-up for anything you may have missed from across the club over the past seven days…

Saints blunt Blades on final day

It was a successful end to the campaign for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side, who overturned a half-time deficit to run out 3-1 winners over Sheffield United at St Mary’s.

John Lundstram fired the visitors in front, but Ché Adams scored twice before Danny Ings’s late penalty sealed victory.

It means Saints climbed a place to 11th in the final table, finishing the season seven matches unbeaten.

Ings just misses out on Golden Boot

That 84th minute spot-kick was not quite enough to land Saints striker Ings the Premier League Golden Boot, as he fell agonisingly short of Jamie Vardy’s season total.

The successful penalty – his only goal that did not come from open play – means our No 9 finished on 22 Premier League goals, just one behind Leicester talisman Vardy.

Scoring three more in cup competitions, Ings ended up with 25 goals in total – a truly outstanding achievement.
