Watford manager Nigel Pearson has said his side will look ahead positively to the visit of Southampton to Vicarage Road.

The Hornets, like the visiting Saints, will be looking to bounce back from defeat on Thursday night.

One of the areas in which Pearson’s side have struggled since the restart is in conceding late goals, something which turned the tide in Southampton’s favour the last time the two sides met.

“It happens in many, many games and at the moment it’s down to a lack of concentration. It’s something that you’ll try to avoid."

We'll go into the game with a positive frame of mind and I'm looking for an improved performance.

Watford took the lead the last time these sides met back in November and held it for 54 minutes, before a late double courtesy of Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse sealed the three points at St Mary’s.

“We responded very well to a late goal [against Leicester]. We have got some spirit within the squad. Sometimes when you get in front it’s about managing a game.”
