Saints set for Norwich trip

The 2019/20 Premier League campaign resumes on Friday 19th June, with Southampton heading to Norwich City (6pm BST).

The first of Saints’ nine remaining fixtures, the Carrow Road clash will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side will then have two further fixtures in June, hosting Arsenal on Thursday 25th June (6pm BST), before travelling to Watford on Sunday 28th June (4.30pm BST).

Players to support NHS and Black Lives Matter

When Premier League matches resume this week, the players’ shirts will carry NHS and Black Lives Matter messaging,

The Premier League stands alongside players, clubs, the FA, EFL, PFA, LMA, PGMOL and all those who oppose discrimination in any form.

The League supports the players’ wish to have their names replaced by Black Lives Matter on the back of their shirts for the first 12 matches of the restarted 2019/20 season. A Black Lives Matter logo will also feature on shirts for the remainder of the season, along with a badge thanking the NHS for their work during the COVID-19 crisis.

In addition, the League will support players who ‘take a knee’ before or during matches.

Smallbone signs four-year deal

Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce midfielder Will Smallbone has signed a new four-year contract at St Mary’s.

The Academy graduate, 20, has agreed a fresh deal that runs until the summer of 2024 and which would take his association with the club up to 16 years.

Smallbone, a Republic of Ireland youth international, has been with Saints since the age of eight, progressing through the youth ranks impressively and then breaking into the first-team this season under the guidance of manager Ralph Hasenhüttl, who himself signed a new four-year contract recently.

Saints stage Bristol City friendly

Saints hosted Championship outfit Bristol City in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Friday afternoon, running out 3-2 victors.

Split into three 45 minute periods, the hosts had the lead within 35 seconds courtesy of Stuart Armstrong, with the Scotland international adding a second just six minutes later.

However, City battled back and drew level thanks to efforts from Niclas Eliasson and Callum O’Dowda, before Danny Ings restored the lead with what proved to be the winning strike.

With 38% of the votes over Facebook and Twitter, Panting's strike in her side's very first game at St Mary's Stadium took the accolade ahead of three other worthy candidates.

Her goal in the FA Cup pipped Ella Pusey's effort against Portsmouth in the 2-0 WNL Cup win away from home.
