Women hit seven in front of record crowd

Southampton FC Women turned on the style in front of a record crowd at Snows Stadium to advance in the Hampshire Cup.

Saints celebrated Women’s Football Weekend with a resounding 7-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth in front of 832 spectators.

The win sees Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side progress to the semi-finals of the competition.

Højbjerg braced for crunch qualifier

Saints skipper Pierre-Emile Højbjerg faces a date with destiny tonight, as Denmark stand on the brink of qualification for Euro 2020.

The Danes are in Dublin to face Republic of Ireland in both nations’ final Group D encounter, with Denmark just having to avoid defeat to seal their place at next summer’s tournament.

Both countries could still qualify via the play-offs, which will take place in March, should they miss out automatically.

Yoshida celebrates personal milestone

Maya Yoshida won his 100th cap last week, becoming only the eighth Japanese male player to reach the landmark.

Samurai Blue marked the occasion with a 2-0 win over Kyrgyzstan in World Cup qualifying.

Yoshida, who made his Japan debut way back in 2010, has been reflecting on the achievement:

Djenepo on target for Mali

Moussa Djenepo was on the scoresheet as Mali defeated Chad 2-0 in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.

It was the winger’s second goal for his country on his 15th cap.

The result leaves the Eagles joint top of their group with four points from two games.

Saints set for return to action

The Premier League is back this weekend, with Saints facing a trip to Arsenal on Saturday.

With seven players away on international duty, Ralph Hasenhüttl has had the opportunity to work with the majority of the squad since the last match against Everton.

Away tickets for the game at the Emirates Stadium are sold out, with Saints fans snapping up the club’s full 3,000 allocation.

Trio of home games on general sale

Saints’ next three home games, against Watford, Norwich and West Ham, are all on general sale.

The meetings with Watford and West Ham are both 5.30pm GMT kick-offs, on Saturday 30th November and Saturday 14th December respectively.

Sandwiched in between is a midweek clash with Norwich at St Mary’s, on Wednesday 4th December, kicking off at 7.30pm GMT.

Poppy shirts up for auction

Saints’ match-worn poppy shirts, used by the starting XI against Manchester City and Everton, have been put up for auction by Saints Foundation in support of the Poppy Appeal and the Royal British Legion.

Saints wore the dark grey and yellow away shirt at the Etihad Stadium and the traditional red and white stripes at St Mary’s against Everton.

More than 25 shirts are up for grabs, with bidding open until Friday 22nd November.

Saints legends discuss footballers’ diets

Episode two of the popular new Saints podcast, Le Pod, revolves around footballers’ diets.

Legendary duo Matt Le Tissier and Rickie Lambert chat about their experiences with nutrition alongside Saints fan and former Olympian Iwan Thomas.

Special guest Alek Gross, Saints’ head of sports science, also joins in the conversation to offer his expert opinion.

St Mary’s to host The Killers

Glastonbury 2019 headliners The Killers will be at St Mary’s as part of their 2020 UK tour.

The band will come to Southampton on Wednesday 3rd June, supported by Blossoms, to promote their new album, Imploding The Mirage.
