Manager Ralph Hasenhüttl has today revealed injury concerns over forward trio Nathan Redmond, Moussa Djenepo and Michael Obafemi.
Both Redmond and Obafemi were withdrawn early against Fulham midweek, with ankle and hamstring worries respectively, while Djenepo is also contending with a muscle problem.
The boss confirmed that all three are likely to miss this weekend’s Premier League clash with Manchester United - a blow to Southampton’s attacking options considering each have contributed goals in recent wins over Brighton and Fulham.
“In the moment, it looks like Nathan is going to be out for two or three weeks,” the Austrian confirmed. “It could be longer but with good rehab we are hopeful.
“He will have to wear a boot over the next 10 days. It can be quicker but I think it could be worse.
“We weren’t happy about having injuries from the last game. Also Moussa is injured, he has a problem with his muscle. He’s out for the weekend.
“Michael Obafemi has some cramp and for the weekend, it’s probably too much for him after playing against Fulham. We have three players that cannot play on the weekend.
"We have a strong subs bench and it’s up to me to find the right balance. I’m confident we have enough in our squad to cause Manchester United some problems on Saturday.”
