We bring you a rundown of what Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl had to say to the media ahead of the team's Premier League home match against Manchester United...

On drawing Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup...

“I know the history and I know that for our fans it’s the only real south coast derby. This game hasn’t happened for a long time and I think it’s a good game for celebrating football in a special way.

“It’s a good chance to go into the next round, but there are still a few days left before that game, so let’s focus on the other challenges we have. I’m concentrating on the game coming up, but I know it will be interesting.”

An update on the injury suffered by Nathan Redmond at Fulham...

“In the moment it looks like he will be out for two-to-three weeks. He could be out longer, and he has to wear a protective boot for the next ten days, but it could be quicker. It could also have been worse.

"We are not happy about having injuries after the last game. Moussa is also injured, he has a problem with his muscle and is out for the weekend. Michael Obafemi cramped a little bit and maybe the game at the weekend is too much for him after the game on Tuesday.”

On facing United...

“You know that you have to play these clubs and those teams, and last season we played them very well at Old Trafford. We had a very good game there and maybe deserved more. Maybe we can turn the tables now. We are building up a little bit more self-confidence after the last two games with two clean sheets. The performances have been better and even with the good injures, we have good subs who are really looking forward to play.

“It’s up to me to find the right balance and then I am sure we will have players on the pitch who can create problems for Manchester United.”

On what to expect from United...

“I think as Man United they always have pressure whether they win or lose the game before. I expect the best possible team for us. They also had a few injury problems I think, but they have so much quality in their squad. When they coming here, we must have a very good performance from our side. The last two games can help us to have more confidence going into the game like we did against Liverpool.”

On Kevin Danso's introduction to the team...

“I think he showed from the first day when he was here that he knows how to defend. He knows how to play football and, physically, has very good options. He is very quick and also good at jumping for the headers. At this age, he is very experienced because he played a lot of games in Germany and I think this signing was a really good one for us.

“This young guy has a lot of potential and we will try to develop him because he is very open-minded and working hard. This is exactly the kind of player we are searching for in our philosophy.”

On the expectations he feels at Southampton...

“I think we found a good balance with the possibilities we have and the way we go. The fans see very clearly that we have our limits but we are a very hard working club and have a focus on the young players to implement the new philosophy in their minds to make them better.

“This is a way that is very healthy for this club and it’s something that everyone can identify with. It’s exactly what you feel. Sure, it’s all about winning games, and we always try to win as much as possible.

“We are always looking for signings that really make sense. We made three in the summer and they are all good ones who have helped us a lot. The crowd loves Moussa. Kevin is in a good way and Ché showed in pre-season that he can score. He hasn’t done it in the Premier League but I’m sure he will.

“These three guys from their character, the way they play football and their age fit our philosophy perfectly. In the end, it’s about developing them as quickly as possible and if we do that then I know we have much fun with these guys."
