International football, Take That and a new partnership agreement headline this week's Monday Briefing as we round-up all of the big news stories from across the club...

International duties

The 2018/19 season officially draws to a close for a selection of Saints players with a pair of international fixtures at the beginning of next month.

The likes of Nathan Redmond, James Ward-Prowse (England), Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (Denmark) and Shane Long (Republic of Ireland) have already joined up with their national teams’ provisional squads ahead of the EURO 2020 qualifiers and, in England’s case, the UEFA Nations League semi-final against the Netherlands on Thursday 6th June.

The Three Lions’ U21 squad for the European Championships in Italy – with Angus Gunn in line to feature – and Gareth Southgate’s final 23-man group is set to be confirmed later today.

Shimizu Pulse partnership agreement

Southampton Football Club has concluded a partnership agreement with Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse.

The link will see Saints and the J1 League side share their respective knowledge, with representatives visiting one another to form a greater understanding of on and off-pitch operations.

These will include coach development, medical science, player development, stadium technology, merchandising and fan engagement.

Southampton’s majority shareholder Mr Gao, Commercial Director David Thomas and Academy Manager Matt Hale visited the club to mark the start of the partnership over the weekend.

Take That light up St Mary’s

St Mary’s was the scene of Take That’s 30th anniversary celebrations on Saturday and Sunday night as around 60,000 fans gathered across the two nights for the group’s greatest hits tour.

The boyband kicked off their summer run in style at the home of the Saints, delighting their south-coast fans with a host of classic from their back catalogue.

The UK tour supports the the release of ‘Odyssey’ – a re-imagined greatest hits album that takes listeners on a journey through the incredible history of one of the UK’s most successful musical acts of all time.

Next up is Rod Stewart, who begins his own concert season at St Mary’s on Friday 31st May, in what will be the first of seven gigs across the summer.

Concert-goers will also be treated to tracks from his soon-to-be-released new album, Blood Red Roses – a deeply personal 13-track collection of originals and three covers – which is released almost 50 years to the date from when he signed his very first solo recording contract.

Tickets are still available from Ticketmaster, for prices between £34.70 to £137.50. Make sure you only buy tickets through Ticketmaster (the official ticket seller for the event) to prevent the scenario of being denied entry.
