Hughes: We must be better in key moments

Mark Hughes says Southampton must be better in the key moments of each half, after seeing his side fall to two late goals away to Wolves.

Saints had looked on course for at least a point at Molineux, having enjoyed their fair share of control over the game, but succumbed to two late strikes, from Ivan Cavaleiro and Jonny, both of which Hughes felt were entirely preventable.

It is in such periods of the game that the Saints boss has told his side they must improve.

"We talk and talk about the key periods of every match, and that's the opening ten minutes, the ten minutes either side of the half-time break, and clearly the last ten minutes,” said Hughes.

“For the most part, we got three of the four right, but if you don't get them all right then you run the risk of conceding and losing games.

“I didn't think we deserved to lose. I think Wolves will feel quite fortunate to have the margin of victory they did, but the reality is we got beat, so we're going to have to be better.

"From about 15 minutes on up until they scored, I thought we were the better team, and the team more likely to convert a chance if we created the right one, so that's the frustration, because you obviously want to capitalise when you're in the ascendancy and we weren't able to do that, unfortunately.”
