Portugal and Cédric progressed to the last 16 of the World Cup with a 1-1 draw against Iran in Saransk.
Ricardo Quaresma opened the scoring on 45 minutes, after receiving Cédric’s pass on the right side, before playing a neat one-two with Adrien Silva and curling a beautiful effort with the outside of his right foot into the top corner.
Shortly into the second-half, Cristiano Ronaldo was brought down in the box, and, after a VAR review of the challenge, he stepped up to take a penalty but was denied by a sprawling save from Alireza Beiranvand.
In stoppage time, there was controversy as Cédric was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area, with the referee using a VAR review to award the penalty. Karim Ansarifard stepped up to side foot the ball into the top corner.
The result saw Fernando Santos's men qualify as Group B runners-up, with Spain drawing 2-2 with Morocco in the other fixture of the night thanks to Iago Aspas's last strike. They will now meet Uruguay.
