Southampton keeper Harry Lewis was the hero for Dundee United, as they triumphed on penalties in a big derby clash in the Scottish League Cup.

Lewis, who moved to United on loan this month, made two saves in the shootout to give his side victory at neighbours Dundee and send them into the next round as group winners.

United led at Dens Park through Paul McMullan’s first-half strike, only for Mark O’Hara to level for the hosts after the break.

Lewis then made a string of fine saves to keep the scores level, including a terrific one-on-one stop in the dying stages from Roarie Deacon.

With the match ending in a draw, it went to penalties to decide who would pick up the bonus point and ensure top spot in the group.

Lewis’s saves from Faissal El Bakhtaoui and Deacon proved to be the crucial contribution, as United earned the bragging rights over their fierce rivals.
