Learn more about French club AS Saint-Étienne, who Southampton will face in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

WHERE DO THEY PLAY?

The Stade Geoffroy-Guichard has been AS Saint-Étienne's home since 1931 and was named after the founder of Groupe Casino, Geoffroy Guichard, who purchased the site for the 41,965 all-seater stadium.

This pre-season tie will, however, take place approximately 150km east of their home stadium at Stade Muncipal De Chambéry.

HOW DID THEY DO LAST SEASON?

Saint-Étienne finished eighth in Ligue One last season – nine points short of Bordeaux who took the final Europa League qualification place.

WHO IS THEIR MANAGER?

Oscar Garcia was appointed the club’s new boss this summer, after long-term boss Christophe Galtier stepped down at the end of last season.

The former Barcelona player moved into management with the youth sides of Catalonia and Barcelona before managing Maccabi Tel Aviv, Brighton & Hove Albion, Watford and Red Bull Salzburg.

WHO ARE THE PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR?

Romain Hamouma was the club’s top scorer last term, with a modest eight goals throughout the campaign.

The 30-year-old has been with Saint-Étienne since 2012 and has netted 42 times since he made the switch from Caen.

DID YOU KNOW?

Saint-Étienne have won the Ligue 1 title a record ten times, with most of their success coming during the 1970s. They have also won six Coupe de France titles, a Coupe de la Ligue title and five Trophée de Champions.
