Saints duo Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse both featured as England under-21s progressed to the semi-finals of the under-21 European Championships with a 3-0 win over Poland.
Aidy Boothroyd’s men knew a victory would be enough to see them top their group, follow the 2-1 success against Slovakia three days ago.
And within six minutes, the Young Lions strengthened their grip on top spot when Ben Chillwell passed the ball inside to his Leicester teammate Demarai Gray, who swivelled and saw his deflected shot beat Jakub Wrabel.
At half-time, Redmond was withdrawn by Aidy Boothroyd, with Jacob Murphy replacing him.
On 69 minutes, Murphy doubled the advantage when he converted from close range after more good work from Gray down the left.
With progression all but secured, Ward-Prowse was replaced by Tammy Abraham on 73 minutes after another impressive display that included a number of superb set-piece deliveries.
There was time for another goal though, as Abraham was brought down by defender Jan Bednarak to earn a penalty, who received his marching orders after a second yellow card.
Lewis Baker was not ready to relinquish penalty duties and he duly dispatched the spot kick to complete the scoring.
Both Jack Stephens and Matt Targett are still waiting for game time after watching on from the substitutes bench.
