Four Saints set for Poland encounter

Four of Southampton’s Young Lions are set for international action today as England face their final group fixture in the Under-21 European Championships against Poland.

Nathan Redmond was the match winner last time out as Aidy Boothroyd’s men overturned a one-goal deficit to win 2-1.

James Ward-Prowse and Redmond both played the duration of that game, with Matt Targett and Jack Stephens watching on as unused substitutes.

And England know another success in this evening’s game with the tournament hosts at Kielce City Stadion (7.45pm BST) will send them into the last four.

Boothroyd said: “The pressure that the players were under in the second half was huge, because we were going home, but the fact that we’re still here smiling shows that we’ve given ourselves a good chance of progressing in the tournament.

“What’s important now is focusing on the here and now and what we’ve got to do in the next game.”

“We’re in the driving seat, so we’ve got to make sure we do our job and we don’t get caught up in all of the Polish passion.”
