Four Southampton players are set for international duty today, beginning with Maya Yoshida this morning.

The defender is with Japan for their World Cup qualifier at home to United Arab Emirates (11.35am BST).

The match is the country’s first game in the latest stage of the Asian qualifying section.

Japan require a top-two finish in their group in order to guarantee a spot at the 2018 finals, in Russia.

Elsewhere, fellow defenders José Fonte and Cédric are back with Portugal for the first time since their triumph at EURO 2016.

The newly-crowned European champions will be taking on Gibraltar, in a home friendly (7.45pm BST).

Saints centre-back Virgil van Dijk could also be in action this evening, as he is with Netherlands, who host Greece in a friendly fixture (7.45pm BST).
