By SFC Media time Wed 24 Aug Club

Shane Long has been named in the latest Republic of Ireland squad – setting up a showdown with Southampton teammate Dušan Tadić.

Saints striker Long is included in Martin O’Neill’s squad for the clash away to Serbia, on Monday 5th September, which is Ireland’s first game in the qualification campaign for the 2018 World Cup.

The Irish will warm up for that match with a friendly encounter, in Dublin, against Oman. That game takes place on Wednesday 31st August.

As well as Serbia, Ireland’s World Cup qualifying group also features Austria, Georgia, Moldova and Wales.
