Southampton’s new manager, Claude Puel, has given an insight into his footballing philosophy and how he likes his team to play.
The Frenchman, who has previously been in charge of Monaco, Lille, Lyon and Nice, was today confirmed as the new Saints boss, signing a three-year contract with the club.
Speaking to Southampton’s official YouTube channel in his first interview as manager, Puel explained what supporters can expect to see from his side.
"I like my team to play good football with a good philosophy of technique,” he said.
“It's important to keep the ball and make the opponent run. It can give a good structure and a good organisation for the team.
“When the team loses the ball, it's important to work together to recapture the ball and it's important to play good football, to give pleasure for the players, because if they feel good together and they play good football, they can give pleasure to the fans also. This is important.”
