Southampton’s players were back at the Staplewood Campus for pre-season testing on Tuesday.

The likes of James Ward-Prowse, Jay Rodriguez and Charlie Austin were among those at the training ground for testing ahead of the first day of pre-season training on Friday 1st July.

Players who featured or are currently still at the European Championships will return for pre-season training at a later date.

The squad took part in a number of tests to provide the club’s sports science team with an overview of their fitness levels ahead of Friday’s return to training.

Players will undergo two days of physical and wellbeing tests across Tuesday and Wednesday, with the first full day of pre-season beginning on Friday.

Saints’ pre-season plans have already been confirmed, with the club set for a training camp in America, followed by three friendlies in Holland and a clash with Athletic Bilbao at St Mary’s.
