Davis set for Northern Ireland's clash with Wales

By SFC Media time Sat 25 Jun Club

Steven Davis will be hoping to write another bit of history with Northern Ireland today, as they face Wales at EURO 2016.

Northern Ireland have never before won a knockout game at a major tournament, but will have the chance when they take on Chris Coleman’s men this afternoon, in Paris (5pm BST).

Davis has already captained his side into unchartered territory, having led them to their first ever place at the European Championship finals, before helping them advance from Group C as one of the best third-placed teams, courtesy of their 2-0 win over Ukraine.

Now, Northern Ireland, who are playing in their first major tournament since the 1986 World Cup, will look to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.

Whichever country advances this afternoon will go on to play the winner of the game between Hungary and Belgium, which takes place tomorrow.
