Fonte and Cédric watch on as Portugal progress

By SFC Media time Wed 22 Jun Club

Southampton defenders José Fonte and Cédric were both unused substitutes as Portugal drew 3-3 with Hungary to progress to the knockout stages at UEFA EURO 2016.

The Saints duo are yet to be called upon by Portugal, who knew they needed a win against Hungary if they were to finish top of Group F.

Instead, they fell behind on three separate occasions, coming back every time to earn a point and progress as one of the best third-placed teams.

Zoltan Gera's opener was cancelled out by Nani, before Balazs Dzsudzsak and Cristiano Ronaldo shared second-half braces.

The draw means Portugal will now take on Croatia in the last 16 of the competition.
