Long: It's all or nothing now

Shane Long says it’s “all or nothing” for the Republic of Ireland when they face Italy in their final UEFA EURO 2016 Group E clash.

Martin O’Neill’s side drew their opening game 1-1 with Sweden, before suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Belgium on Saturday.

With one point from their opening two matches, Long and his teammates know they must beat Graziano Pellè’s Italy, who have already qualified for the next round, to stand any chance of progressing.

“We’ll move on. It’s a tough result to take, but we’ll approach this Italy game now and we need to win,” Long said of the disappointment against Belgium at the weekend.

“It’s all or nothing at this stage. I think we can beat them. We’ve got a good record against the big teams.

“We’ve got a good history against Italy as well and hopefully they rest a few players.

“We will go out and try to cause an upset. It would be amazing to go through after beating Italy on four points.

“That’s what we have to aim for – nothing less will do.”
