Isgrove helps Barnsley to promotion

By SFC Media time Sun 29 May Club

Southampton’s Lloyd Isgrove scored to help Barnsley beat Millwall 3-1 and seal promotion back to the Championship.

The Tykes got off to the perfect start at Wembley, as Ashley Fletcher, on loan from Manchester United, netted inside the opening two minutes.

Things got even better for Barnsley with 19 minutes gone, as Adam Hammill scored an excellent goal to leave Millwall facing an uphill task.

Mark Beevers pulled one back for the Lions just after the 30-minute mark, but Isgrove’s header with 15 minutes to go made it 3-1 and sealed the win for Barnsley.

The goal and promotion seals a memorable campaign for Isgrove, who also won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Wembley earlier this season.
