There were mixed fortunes last night for the two Southampton players in action for their loan clubs.
Defender Jordan Turnbull played the full game for Swindon Town away to struggling Oldham Athletic, but couldn’t prevent them from slipping to a 2-0 defeat.
Liam Kelly’s header after ten minutes put the hosts in front at Boundary Park, before Curtis Main was able to just beat Turnbull to a loose ball in the area to nod home eight minutes from time.
Swindon, who are now without a win in their last six league games, are 15th in the table.
It was a much better night for Gastón Ramírez, who scored twice for Middlesbrough in their 3-0 home win over Huddersfield.
Grant Leadbitter sent them on the way in the 32nd minute, after Ramírez had been tripped in the area, before the Saints loanee sprinted through to round the keeper for the second a minute later.
Ramírez then sealed the victory in the 77th minute, with a curling free-kick from distance, as Boro held onto second place in the Championship.
