Lloyd Isgrove made a telling contribution as Barnsley earned a 1-0 away win over Swindon and fellow Saints loanee Jordan Turnbull.
Isgrove got just ahead of Turnbull at the near post to produce a crucial flick from Josh Scowen’s’s cross that saw the ball fall perfectly to Sam Winnall to slam home the winner in the 88th minute at the County Ground.
The result marked a fourth successive victory for the Tykes, moving them up to 12th in League 1.
For Turnbull and Swindon, the defeat ended a three-match unbeaten run and leaves them 17th in the table.
Elsewhere in League 1, Ryan Seager made his debut for Crewe, having joined the club on loan last week.
The Saints striker started the 1-1 draw away to Millwall on the bench, but was introduced in the 80th minute.
By then, two penalties had already settled the score, with Crewe having taken the lead through Brad Inman’s 59th-minute spot kick, before Lee Gregory converted from 12 yards five minutes later.
In League 2, Jason McCarthy helped Wycombe end a five-game run without a win, as they triumphed 1-0 away to high-flying Plymouth Argyle.
Argyle, second in the division, started the match as favourites, but they were undone by a Gozie Ugwo goal, as he scrambled the ball home in the third minute.
Saints defender McCarthy, who played the full game, then helped the Chairboys hold the lead the rest of the way, as they moved into eighth position, just one point and one place off the play-off spots.
