Dušan Tadić wants Saints to take their first-half performance at West Ham into Norwich on Saturday, but also learn from their second-half mistakes when they visit Carrow Road.
Southampton produced a brilliant opening 45 minutes at the Boleyn Ground yesterday, but led only 1-0 at the break, courtesy of Carl Jenkinson’s own-goal.
They were made to pay for not taking greater advantage of their dominance when the Hammers scored twice after the interval to turn the game on its head and take the three points.
Tadić believes there is a lot Saints can take from the game into their next match, against Norwich.
“I think, especially first half, we can take a lot of positive things, but we also need to analyse the bad things, then I hope that we will be better,” said Tadić.
“I think if we put that performance from the first half and to be more stable second half, we have a great opportunity to take points.”
But Tadić also admitted that, while there were positives to take out of the West Ham game, the only currency that really matters is points.
“When the team plays good it’s easy to play and come into dangerous situations, but most important is that we win and take points,” he said.
“This didn’t happen, so I hope next game we will take the points.”
