Garmin Big Bike Challenge raises over £46k for Saints Foundation

On the 8th and 9th May, 43 cyclists – including former Saints defender Franny Benali – took part in the 160-mile trek from St Mary’s to the King Power Stadium in Leicester to raise money for the foundation.

Included in the total is £20,000 from Garmin, Southampton Football Club’s Official Navigation & Fitness Device Partner, who provided a huge amount of support both in the lead up to and during the ride itself.

The cyclists were supported all the way by the Garmin Edge 1000, the company’s top-of-the-range cycling computer, which helped them successfully navigate their route from Southampton to Leicester.

Kim Barton-Smith, Saints Foundation’s Fundraising and Events Officer, said: “This money will make a huge difference to people’s lives across Southampton and the surrounding area. 

“The funds raised will help the Saints Foundation to develop our programmes working with young people, people living with disabilities, vulnerable adults and – this year, for the first time – isolated older people.

“We’d like to thank our event sponsors Garmin and all of the riders who took part for their amazing support.”
