U18 REPORT: Southampton 1-3 Brighton

By SFC Media time Sat 27 Sep U 18

Saints Under-18s suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of Brighton at Staplewood on Saturday morning.

After an even first half that brought no opener, the visitors swiftly netted twice after the restart to take a significant advantage at Southampton’s training ground.

The hosts fought back as the second period progressed but initially got no reward as Brighton hit a third.

With half an hour remaining, Anthony Limbrick brought on midfielders Joe Lea and Stuart Wilkin before introducing Olufela Olomola for his first appearance of the campaign after injury.

It was Lea who proved to make the biggest mark on the game, though, as he struck a consolation for Southampton with a quarter of an hour left.

Southampton U18s: Harry Isted, Niall Mason, Ollie Cook, Kyle Clinton, Josh Debayo, Alfie Jones (Joe Lea 60), Armani Little, Callum Slattery, Mark Irvine (Stuart Wilkin 60), Harley Willard, Marcus Barnes (Olufela Olomola 70)

Goal: Lea (75)
