Morgan made to wait for France bow

Morgan Schneiderlin is still eagerly awaiting a France senior debut after being an unused substitute in France’s 4-0 friendly win over Norway on Tuesday night.

The Saints midfielder failed to make it off the bench in a match where the French cruised courtesy of an Olivier Giroud double, coupled with striker from Paul Pogba and substitute Loic Remy.

Schneiderlin was named on the standby list in Didier Deschamp’s squad for the World Cup in Brazil next month and the 24-year-old will be hoping to impress the national team’s manager in two upcoming friendlies ahead of the competition.

A bow could arrive for Southampton’s number-four when the French welcome Paraguay this Sunday or Jamaica seven days later ahead of those on the 23-man roster jetting off to South America.

Schneiderlin has represented his country at every level – bar the senior side – from the Under-16 rank and beyond, along with captaining the Under-18s.
