Sam Gallagher scored as England Under-19s strolled to a 6-0 win over Montenegro in their Euro Elite Round qualifying match.
The Saints striker’s hit, accompanied by a Jordon Ibe hat-trick along with goals from Callum Robinson and Lewis Baker sealed a comfortable victory as the Young Lions look to carve a path to Hungary’s European U19 Championship this year.
Gallagher was brought off shortly after his second-half goal, while defenders Calum Chambers and Matt Targett managed the entire 90 minutes. The other Southampton representative present, Harrison Reed, was an unused substitute.
Next up for Noel Blake’s side is a welcoming of neighbours Scotland on Monday to Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium – kick-off at 7.30pm BST.
England’s Elite Round qualification stage is then completed with a visit of Ukraine to the same venue the following Thursday, which gets underway at 3pm BST.
