Artur Boruc addressed the media on Friday morning ahead of Sunday's Barclays Premier League visit to Tottenham Hotspur.

On Spurs…
“In this situation we are in just now, we’re still thinking about the European spots. If you dream big, good things happen. So we’re going there to grab all three points – I think we are good enough.
“I think it’s not just about this game. There are a couple of games left, and you can grab a good amount of points.
“Of course, I’m still thinking about that European spot, but it’s going to be hard, I know that as well. But we’ve shown this season that we are able to compete with the biggest clubs in England.
“We’re playing our game, and it doesn’t matter what’s happening – even defeats against other teams doesn’t really change the way we play. We’re always going to try to win and grab all points.”
On Spurs playing on Thursday…
“When you’re a professional football player, that kind of thing doesn’t really matter. You still have to train every single day.
“Obviously, the games involve a bit more running for the outfield players, but at the very end it’s another game and in the professional life that happens all the time.”
On the possibility of Mauricio Pochettino renewing his contract…
“You can see that we’ve improved. We’re playing very good football, you can enjoy seeing us playing. I can’t really say anything more. That should easily be in the minds of the board, and I think sooner or later it’s going to happen.
“He’s done lots of good things at Southampton Football Club, and I think that’s the way we should go.
“I think the boss shows lots of commitment to the club, and I think he knows what to do with the bunch of players as we are. We can be a very good team when he’s here.”
On the possibility of José Fonte going to the World Cup…
“He’s a good player. Ten clean sheets in a season shows we’re a very good defensive team, and why not? But it’s obviously not about me, it’s more about the national coach. But I think he’s watching him. I think he could be (in the squad).
“He’s playing in the top league in the world, so why not?
On Saints’ season so far…
“It’s a strange season, to be honest, in the Premiership. The top clubs, at the top of the league, are still fighting for the first spot.
“I felt in the beginning of the season it’s going to be honest harder to be in the top ten let’s say, but just now and with the way we’ve played and that we’ve grabbed so many points just now, I think with a little luck we could do much more better.”
On the dream of playing in the Champions League…
“That’s the thing in my life – I’m dreaming big and good things happen to me. I was a guy from a little town in Poland who’s become a football player, so I can tell you just now that dreams come true.
“Why not? Why not with Southampton Football Club? Why not play in the Champions League?
“It’s hard to describe to be honest how different a thing it is for everybody, the way you’re playing against top teams in the world, in Europe. It’s a great experience for everybody. You can just improve from that.”
On personal form this season…
“It doesn’t really affect me, to be honest. I’ve made a couple of mistakes in my life, so, this isn’t going to change myself. I’m still the same player.
“I’m always giving 100 per cent, and that’s the only thing I can do just now, is just forget about this, and still keep believing.”
On goalkeeping coach Toni Jiménez…
“Toni’s a crazy guy, a very good goalkeeping coach, and I’m really enjoying working with him, on the pitch, off the pitch – a fantastic guy.
On practising penalties with Rickie Lambert…
“I stopped practising this a couple of months ago!”
On whether he’s ever saved a Lambert penalty in training…
“I don’t remember!”
On Lambert’s World Cup prospects…
“I think he should be in the squad for the World Cup, and a couple of other guys from our club as well. I think it would be an unbelievable achievement for all the players and all the club as well.
“It gives you a big boost when you’re in the national team and playing among the best players in your country, and I think it’s the same with the guys in here.”
