On the road to Lesotho

By SFC Media time Wed 28 Aug

Saints Foundation coach Chris Harding has set off for an adventure of a lifetime cycling 10,000 miles to Lesotho in in Southern Africa.

Chris took up the challenge on 10th August, leaving from St Mary’s Stadium in order to raise funds for both the Saints Foundation and Kick4Life.

The adventure takes him across Europe, entering North Africa via Egypt and then travelling through Africa to his Lesotho destination.

Before leaving for the trip, Chris explained his passion for the challenge: "April 2012 was when my love for cycling blossomed," he said. "Until this time I had used a bike to get from A to B and take no notice of what happened in between. I would not even call myself a big cyclist, from home to University was no more than 5 miles."

Having cycled the length of the UK for a personal challenge, Chris decided to use his new found passion and raise funds for both Charities.  Chris continued: "After completing my length of Britain tour and still loving life on a saddle I immediately felt I had to do something bigger, more adventurous and for a good cause. As a massive lover of football and working for the Saints Foundation and seeing their relationship with Kick4Life I hope to raise funds for both Charities that make a real difference."

Chris is over a fortnight into his journey already and is currently travelling through Europe having negotiated the south coast of England, heading towards Liechtenstein continuously in the saddle. Wherever possible, he is using the universal language of football and linking up with a range of local football Clubs throughout his journey.
