Saints Fan Is Top Dog At Crufts

Nine year-old Saints supporter Josh Banfield had tails wagging with a football themed act which landed him First Prize at the world’s most famous dog show.

Josh and his border collie named Bob, were winners in the Young Kennel Club Under-12 elementary freestyle heelwork to music category at Crufts, thanks to a performance that wouldn’t have looked out of place at St Mary’s stadium as they wowed spectators with a routine to the theme tune from ‘Match of the Day’.

Dressed in a full Southampton home kit, Josh led Bob around a course complete with goalposts in front of an audience of around 600 people at Birmingham’s NEC just under a fortnight ago.

Crufts is still the biggest dog show in the world with around 25,000 dogs competing in many categories over four days, whilst Josh’s act is akin to the canine dancing skills of Pudsey, the winner of last year’s Britain’s Got Talent competition.

Many nine year-old boys would probably not feel the need to dress up for such an occasion, but Josh couldn’t resist wearing his Saints kit, which he went on to collect his prize in after the show.

Josh, who qualified for Crufts after auditioning in Andover last November, told that he was delighted with the recognition.

"I was very proud to win my class in heelwork to music wearing my Saints kit performing with my dog Bob."

Make no bones about it, this Southampton fan has got talent.
