'Any Win Is A Vital One'

Richard Chaplow hopes tomorrow's game at Leeds United represents the start of better times for both himself and the Club.

The midfielder has been limited to substitute appearances in the Barclays Premier League this season, but has featured heavily in the Capital One Cup as Saints progressed to the last 16.

And he is hoping that the fourth-round trip to Elland Road offers an opportunity to get back to winning ways, given his side have not won a game since beating Sheffield Wednesday at the previous stage.

"There are many people in that team tomorrow who want a starting berth, me being one of them," Chaplow told Saints Player this lunchtime.

"Hopefully we can put a performance in because it's an important [game] for the Club. Any win is a vital one.

"The team is probably going to be a different one tomorrow night as it has been so far in the cup, so it's down to those lads playing to try and carry that on to put in a good performance.

"We all know that we need to pick up points because it's a point-related business, so results are what we need at the minute," he added on the back of yesterday's league defeat by Spurs.

"Leeds is a tough place to go, but I've been there many times before and you know what you're going to get from them and from [their manager] Neil Warnock.

"[Being in the cup] gives the lads who aren't involved and the ones who want to be in that starting XI more opportunities to show the gaffer.

"You can only do so much training, but if you're not doing it week-in week-out in games then it's tough to get into his thoughts.

"Performance-wise in the last few cup games, the lads have been bang at it. Hopefully we can produce another win."
