Just inches away from an equaliser. Bednarek launches in a fabulous ball and Perraud gets a powerful head to it but his effort bounces off the post to deny Saints the equaliser.

An action-packed first half at Molineux. Saints appeared to have the better start of the two sides as they looked in control from the off. A cool, calm and collected shot from the penalty spot from Jiménez ensures the hosts have the advantage heading to the break.

For the second time since the opening goal, Sa is there to deny Salisu as he gets a head to the end of Ward-Prowse's corner.
Ait-Nouri into the side netting
Wolves look close to a second as Ait-Nouri catches a break down the left flank but his shot fires into the side netting, with it later being ruled he was in an offside position.
Romeu on target
Romeu tries his luck from range as he drills a low shot towards goal but it's a comfortable save for Sa.

After that lengthy VAR review, the fourth official has indicated there will be a minimum of four additional minutes to be played at the end of the first half.

Tella shoots over
Perraud curls in a ball into the area as the ball skims over Broja's head and into the feet of Tella, he can't get the ball under control as it fires over the crossbar. It's ultimately ruled as offside but Saints are showing their determination here.
Salisu denied by Sa
Saints come so close to getting the equaliser as they look to fight their way back into the fixture. Romeu crosses in a lovely ball which meets the head of Salisu who is in close range of Sa but the goalkeeper makes another vital save for Wolves.

Lyanco makes an exceptional tackle on Podence before Bednarek challenges Ait-Nouri, it's a close call as VAR looks at the challenge from all angles but referee Salisbury is called to review it and the penalty is given.
Wolves finding their rhythm
Saints appeared the better of the two sides in the opening stages of this contest but Lage's side are really working their way into this game now. Huge calls for a penalty as both Podence and Ait-Nouri are taken down in the penalty area as they both come close to netting for the hosts.
Beautiful footwork from Podence
Podence, who is still searching for his first league goal this season, has a lovely run down the right flank before dancing his way into the Saints penalty area. He can't quite make a strong enough connection on the ball and it's an easy save for Forster.

Romeu challenges Semedo in the box but the Wolves man goes down too easily and the calls for a penalty are denied.
Positive play from Perraud
Perraud cuts in the left and sends a low drive towards the Wolves goal but Sa is there to deflect the ball behind for another Saints corner which again amounts to nothing. It's going to be hard to break down this defence.
First sign of pressure from Wolves
Beautiful work from Trincao sees Wolves make an impressive charge down the length of the pitch before the ball is released into the area and Lyanco comes in to send the ball over the crossbar and behind for a Wolves corner.
Redmond does well
As Lyanco releases Diallo down the left flank, Redmond charges down the middle and manages to get his way past two of the Wolves defenders. He attempts a low ball into the area where Perraud is waiting but Sa is there to clear for the hosts.
Composure from Sa
Sa nearly found himself in great danger with Broja in the area but unphased by the pressure, Sa wiggles his way out of the threat as Wolves start to gain some momentum in this game.
Bednarek continues despite knock
A worrying sign early on for Saints as Bednarek receives medical treatment for what appears to be a hamstring problem. It takes a moment but he finds his feet and after conffering with boss Hasenhüttl, he remains on the pitch for the time being.
Lyanco makes important tackle on Jiménez
With Saints keeping much of the possession in the opening stages at Molineux, Podence looks to monopolise on a loose ball from Ward-Prowse. He releases Jiménez but Lyanco makes a strong, decisive tackle to recover the ball.
Another corner for Saints
Just seven minutes into the game and Saints are already on their fifth corner of the match. Ward-Prowse delivers a wonderful ball into the box to find the head of Bednarek but Wolves do enough to get the ball away and behind for another Saints corner.

Saints have started with intent at Molineux. Ward-Prowse goes in search of Romeu from the corner but Sa is there to make an important clearance for the hosts.
Podence receiving treatment
As Broja looks to protect the ball, a flailing arm to the head sees Podence require treatment early on. It doesn't take long for the Portugese man to get back to his feet and play resumes with a Southampton corner.
