Final 🔟

Into the closing stages we go with the game still finely in the balance.

Last-ditch Diallo 👏

Raphinha thinks he's going to get a shot off on goal, but as he swings his left leg, Diallo gets a toe to the ball and wins a free-kick in the process.

The game has lost its tempo slightly, with a serious of injuries and set-pieces slowing down proceedings.

The full-back takes a whack from his teammate Forster, but both are going to be okay to continue.

57’

Tame from Diallo

The space opens up for Diallo to try his luck from long range, but the midfielder's strike lacks venom and is an easy one for Meslier to collect.

56’

A let off from Raphinha

It's been all Saints in the second half but Leeds should probably be back in front. Rodrigo leads the breakaway and eventually squares the ball for Raphinha, but the Brazilian's left-footed shot from just inside the box is blazed over the bar.

52’

Broja fires wide

Saints are full of confidence now and almost take the lead. Livramento's low cross finds Broja at the near post, but with the ball slightly behind him his effort flies just wide.

GOALSCORER 8 James Ward-Prowse

HE'S DONE IT AGAIN! 🤯

Another one for the collection! It's sensational from Ward-Prowse who whips another free-kick into the top corner that Meslier cannot keep out.

Free-kick in Ward-Prowse territory 🚨

HALF TIME: Leeds 1-0 Saints

A high-octane half of football at Elland Road and the hosts have the lead at the break courtesy of Jack Harrison's scruffy effort. Jesse Marsch's side have enjoyed the better of the play in Yorkshire and will feel worthy of their lead, but Saints have threatened in spells and have gone close through Ché Adams and Moi Elyounoussi. A big second half ahead.

41’

Saints responding well

Since Leeds opened the scoring, Saints have been well on top. Ralph Hasenhüttl will be pleased with his side's response to going a goal behind.

39’

Walker-Peters goes close!

That's not far away! Leeds only half clear a corner allowing Adams to the lay the ball off for Walker-Peters, but the left-back's first-time strike flies just over Meslier's crossbar.

36’

How's he saved that?! 😱

Romeu brilliantly reverses a pass into the path of Adams in the box and the striker twists and turns to engineer a yard of space, but his shot from 10 yards is brilliantly saved by the fingertips of Meslier.

Harrison opens the scoring

Raphinha does well to dig out a cross on the byline which Forster can only palm into a dangerous area, where Harrison is waiting to convert from close range.

29’

GOAL

Jack Harrison (29’) | 1 0

28’

Almost, Moi!

Ward-Prowse drives to the by-line with the ball and delivers a menacing low ball, but Llorente gets a toe to it just as Elyounoussi is ready to fire home from six yards.

26’

Adams engineers space

Adams takes it upon himself as he cuts inside onto his weaker left foot and shoots from the edge of the box, but it takes a deflection and goes out for a corner.

In a battle ⚔️

It's been a tough first half for Saints so far, but Hasenhüttl's side are standing firm at Elland Road.

22’

No goal ❌

The hosts have the ball in the net from a corner, but the goal is ruled out for a foul in the build up, as Bednarek is pushed in the back while trying to head clear.

17’

Adams almost pounces

Under pressure from Adams, Ayling's back pass lacks a bit of weight, but Meslier is alert to the danger and just about beats the Scotland international to the ball.

15’

Perfect timing, Ori 👏

The pace of Dan James causes trouble once again as the Leeds man surges deep into Southampton's half, but just as he's about to release Raphinha, Oriol Romeu slides in to thwart the danger.

12’

James stings the hands of Forster

Dan James is slipped in behind and goes for goal from the right-hand side of the box, but Forster has narrowed the angle well and parries away the strike.

11’

A first chance for Saints

A good opportunity for the visitors. Livramento makes a trademark darting run down the right and crosses into a dangerous position with Adams laying the ball off for Elyounoussi, but the winger slips as he shoots and it's an easy one for Meslier.

8’

Raphinha wasteful

Harrison charges down the left wing and feeds a ball into Raphinha close to the byline, but the Brazilian's cross is straight into the arms of Forster.

And breathe 😅

That was some start from the hosts, but Saints seem to have survived the early onslaught.

5’

Klich off target

Leeds have encamped themselves in the Saints half and a sustained spell of pressure almost results in the opener. Klich decides to go for goal from 20 yards, but his effort is a yard or two wide.

3’

Llorente heads wide

Salisu's defensive effort was almost for nothing, as Llorente gets his head to the corner, but it's just wide of Forster's goal.

3’

What a tackle, Sali!

Leeds hit Saints on the break and Rodrigo's through ball seems to set Dan James clear, but Mohammed Salisu stretches every sinew to get a toe to the ball first.

BROJA BREAKS THE DEADLOCK 🔐 | Saints 1-0 Leeds

Southampton came out on top in the reverse fixture back in October, with Armando Broja scoring the only goal of the fixture at St Mary's.

He’s an outstanding character, he’s very close to the players. It was interesting to watch his development as a coach, I think the step he made was absolutely good. It’s the right way to go.”

Ralph is an incredible human being. That’s the first thing that needs to be said, that he is a really good person that cares about people and cares about his teams and the environments that he creates and then he’s a sharp, intelligent manager and I think he believes in a lot of the same principles and philosophies that I believe in in football.”

📍 Elland Road

Premier League football returns as Southampton travel to Leeds United this afternoon. Ralph Hasenhüttl's side will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing run of results in March as they look to boost their bid for a top ten finish, while Leeds hope to continue the run of form they found before the international break after claiming victories over Wolves and Norwich. Come on you Saints!
