- Goalscorer Obafemi and influential Redmond hobble off nursing injuries

- Starts for Djenepo, Boufal and Obafemi; Højbjerg at left-back on 100th Saints appearance
FULL TIME: Fulham 0-1 Southampton
Saints are safely through, but the margin of victory should have been greater. Michael Obafemi applied the decisive blow, tapping home Nathan Redmond's low cross, but both players later left the field injured to cast a cloud over an otherwise encouraging night. It's back-to-back wins for Ralph Hasenhüttl's side ahead of the visit of Manchester United to St Mary's on Saturday 💪
Djenepo's volley easily saved
Boufal takes over free-kick duty from Ward-Prowse and hits the wall, but the ball loops up into the air for Djenepo to strike on the volley. He connects cleanly, but it lacks the power to trouble Rodak.
6️⃣ added minutes...
Still a long way to go here! Most of this stoppage time must've come from the Redmond injury.
Saints still can't finish the job!
Ings is involved again as his shot is blocked, before he has the vision to spot Long in space six yards out, but the pass is slightly behind the Irishman, who scoops the chance wide. How are Fulham still in this?
Rodak thwarts Ings again
The striker intercepts another stray pass out of the Fulham defence and escapes a cynical attempted challenge to go eye to eye with Rodak, but again the keeper saves well, before denying Yoshida's header from the resulting corner. Saints still can't quite kill this one off!
Decordova-Reid tries his luck
Fulham have suddenly remembered they're still in this, having been outplayed since half time. Decordova-Reid has a go from 25 yards and hits the sidenetting. The hosts claim a corner and don't take too kindly to the decision when it's not given.
Ings kept out by Rodak
First chance for Ings since coming on. He races away, cuts back inside the last defender and forces an important save from Rodak, who spreads himself to good effect.
📸 That goalscoring feeling!
Michael Obafemi wheels away to celebrate in front of the travelling Saints fans. It's his goal that still separates the teams with 12 minutes to go...
Redmond is down 😨
More lively play from the forward, who receives the ball from Højbjerg and turns to find space to shoot. This time he forces a save from Rodak, but now he's down and looks in some discomfort.
Free-kick right on the edge...
Great work by Djenepo, who not only keeps the ball in play but then frightens the life out of Bryan, who resorts to dragging him down just before the winger reaches the penalty area.
Obafemi is down...
The goalscorer just embarked on a lung-busting run at the Fulham defence, but now he's pulled up and may need to be replaced.
Redmond fires over
He's been at the heart of everything tonight, just struggling to hit the target! Another purposeful burst from Redmond into shooting territory, but it's high and wide from 20 yards.
IT HAD BEEN COMING!
Saints finally have the breakthrough and it's the youngster who scores! Brilliant work again by Redmond, whose cross is turned in for an easy tap in by Obafemi, registering the second goal of his senior career. Get in!
Michael Obafemi (56’) | 0 – 1
Redmond heads over
A wicked delivery from Ward-Prowse's wide free-kick beats the Fulham defence, but it bounces up sharply in front of Redmond, who does well to react but can't keep his header down and it flies into the Saints fans behind Rodak's goal.
Great save denies Romeu 😩
Fulham play with fire in trying to play out from the back, as Romeu steps in and wins the ball to go charging through on goal. Only Rodak stands in his way, but the keeper stands up and makes a fine save, diving to his right.
Over the top from Ward-Prowse
Ward-Prowse has a go from the free-kick, but can't get it to dip and Rodak watches it over the bar.
Yellow Card for Stefan Johansen (Fulham)
A really cynical tackle by Johansen to bring down Boufal in full flight. As clear a yellow card as you will ever see, and the Moroccan is receiving treatment.
The second half has begun...
Straightaway Kamara uses his pace again to worry Saints. Bednarek brings him down, but the resulting free-kick is cleared.
Will we see Longy tonight?
You voted Shane Long as your favoured impact sub - who will make the difference in the second half? We're about to get back under way!
HALF TIME: Southampton 0-0 Fulham
It's goalless at the interval, but Saints have got better as it's gone on. The visitors were dealt an early scare when Fulham struck the crossbar from a free-kick, but Ralph Hasenhüttl's side have come more and more into the game, with Nathan Redmond particularly threatening. Who will make the breakthrough?
Redmond fires over
Another presentable opening. Redmond targets that inside-left channel again, cuts inside and looks for the far corner, but it's high and wide on this occasion.
One added minute...
We're into the last 60 seconds of the first half.
Djenepo's shot is blocked
Saints are firmly in the ascendancy now. DJenepo advances towards the box, but his shot is blocked by a defender. Saints continue to press with half time approaching.
Redmond goes close!
He gets away and finds space in the box, but his attempted curler inside the far post is deflected behind for a corner.
Decordova-Reid fires wide
Bright build-up play from Fulham, as the ball is laid off for Decordova-Reid, but he opens his foot out too far and his shot veers away from goal.
Djenepo appeals for a penalty
The winger bursts into the Fulham box and goes under what looked like a nudge in the back, but it's not enough to earn a spot-kick in the eyes of the referee.
Redmond tries to release Obafemi
Redmond picks up possession and flies forward with real purpose, but McDonald intercepts perfectly as he tries to send Obafemi through on goal.
Cédric's cross is well held
The right-back surges into a good area and fires the ball across goal, but keeper Rodak does well to hold on with attackers flying in to meet it.
Tricky footwork from Boufal
The maverick midfielder receives the ball inside the penalty area, but is immediately put under pressure from a swarm of white shirts, and despite his best efforts, cannot maintain possession.
De La Torre goes close
The winger carries the ball deep into Saints territory and goes for goal with a low shot towards the far corner, but it just whistles wide of the upright.
...It's not his best. It was a free-kick in a reasonable crossing position, but for once the midfielder over hits it, and the ball goes behind for a goal kick.
Saints settling down now
After a really fast start from Fulham, Saints appear to have weathered the storm and are starting to come into the contest, enjoying much more possession.
Yellow Card for James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)
Another early booking, this time to Ward-Prowse for a high tackle.
Against the bar! 😳
So close to a Fulham opener, as the free-kick rattles against the underside of the bar, before McCarthy has to be alert to tip over the rebound. The hosts have started well here.
Yellow Card for Kevin Danso (Southampton)
Kamara accelerates away from Danso, who pulls him back on the edge of the box. Free-kick to Fulham in a dangerous area...
First chance falls Fulham's way
Decent approach play from the hosts, as Kamara finds Onomah down the line, who has time to deliver a cross, but it bounces awkwardly in front of the onrushing O'Riley, who balloons his shot as a result.
New role for the skipper...
It looks like Højbjerg is Saints' left-back tonight. Romeu and Ward-Prowse are the central midfielders, with Boufal and Djenepo providing the width and Redmond and Obafemi completing a speedy attack.
