FULL-TIME: SAINTS 3-2 ARSENAL
GET IN THERE, SAINTS HAVE DONE IT! An incredible performance has earned a monumental three points for Ralph Hasenhüttl's side in the Austrian's first home Premier League game in charge!!
Yellow Card for Shane Long (Southampton)
Long is cautioned for catching Monreal with a flailing arm.
Southampton substitution: Tyreke Johnson replaces Stuart Armstrong
What a time for a Saints debut! Here comes 20-year-old Tyreke Johnson for the final two minutes. A standing ovation for Stuart Armstrong.
Guendouzi heads over the top...
All Arsenal now as the fourth official indicates that there will be FIVE minutes of added time. The visitors respond by heading over the bar with almost all 22 players occupying the penalty area.
Koscielny fouls Austin
One of the biggest roars of the afternoon from the home crowd as Koscielny pulls down Charlie Austin in the centre circle. Big pressure release for Saints who have just two minutes plus stoppage time to hold on for a massive three points.
YESSSSS, CHAZZZ!!!!!!!!!
BACK IN FRONT AT THE DEATH! Long floats a delightful cross to the back post where Charlie Austin is waiting to nod into an empty net. SCENES.
GOOOAL!!!
Charlie Austin (84’) | 3 – 2
Vestergaard and Bednarek to the rescue
Aubameyang is allowed to drift into space down the channel and his dangerous cross is shovelled clear by a combination of Vestergaard on the slide and Bednarek with his head.
LONG DENIED BY LINESMAN'S FLAG!
Huge moment. Yoshida's thumping header is somehow clawed out by Leno, the German gets a hand to Shane Long's follow up but not enough to prevent it dribbling over the line. The linesman's flag cuts short wild Saints celebrations...
Yellow Card for Stuart Armstrong (Southampton)
Armstrong has his name taken for a coming together with Lichtsteiner down the Arsenal right.
Hearts in mouths! 😬
A nervy moment at the back as Lacazette dispossesses McCarthy 25 yards from goal. The ball is loose with the keeper in no man's land but the Frenchman takes too long to shoot and Vestergaard can recover.
Targett delivers, Arsenal clear
Armstrong runs over the dead ball for Targett to deliver and the full-back's cross is a good one, beating the first man before it's poked to safety on the penalty spot.
Yellow Card for Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal)
Koscielny is cautioned for a cynical trip on Redmond on the left-hand edge of the penalty area. Chance here...
Redmond inches away!
A fabulous cross from Yan Valery is within a whisker of being turned home by Nathan Redmond. The winger is just beaten to the ball by the diving Leno who punches clear.
Everything to play for...
Critical period of the game now for Saints who find themselves camped in their own half for the time being following Mkhitaryan's equaliser. Stand firm and fight your way back in here, lads.
Mkhitaryan equalises again...
A real slice of fortune has Arsenal back on level terms once more as Henrikh Mkhitaryan's tame shot takes a monster deflection off Jannik Vestergaaerd to wrong-foot Alex McCarthy in the Saints goal.
GOAL
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (52’) | 2 – 2

Yellow Card for Jan Bednarek (Southampton)
Bednarek goes into the book for a late challenge on Alexandre Lacazette.
Back underway!
So, 45 minutes to see this out. COYR.
HALF-TIME: SAINTS 2-1 ARSENAL
Two brilliant Danny Ings headers make it advantage Saints at the break at St Mary's! Henrikh Mkhitaryan briefly levelled for the visitors but it was a rousing response from Ralphj Hasenhüttl's men. Bring on the second half!

DANNY DOES IT AGAIN!!!!
TWO FOR DANNY, TWO FOR SAINTS! It's another beautifully placed header from Danny Ings this time from Redmond's clipped cross which floats into the far corner.
GOOOAL!!!
Danny Ings (43’) | 2 – 1
Delicately poised...
Nothing to separate the teams here as half-time beckons. Saints have responded strongly to Mkhitaryan's equaliser, giving Arsenal very little space to work with in their own half.
Ings for Saints, Mkhitaryan for Arsenal
As you were then at St Mary's. Two very well-taken headers have these two teams deadlocked once more as we approach half time. Equaliser aside, this has been a good showing for Saints so far.
Mkhitaryan levels it for Arsenal...
Back to square one at St Mary's as Henrikh Mkhitaryan heads into the bottom corner from Nacho Monreal's cross.
GOAL
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (29’) | 1 – 1

Ings on the charge
Saints turnover possession in the Arsenal half and Ings breezes past Matteo Guendouzi before curling a shot into the body of Bernd Leno. COME ON, SAINTS!

YESS!!! INGS PUTS US IN FRONT!!
A SUPERB OPENER FOR SAINTS! Targett whips a brilliant cross in between the Arsenal defenders for Danny Ings to nod home past Leno. YES!
GOOOAL!!!
Danny Ings (19’) | 1 – 0
Welcome to St Mary's, Ralph! 🇦🇹😇
Leno saves from Armstrong!
The noise rises once again as Saints force goalkeeper Leno into a routine save. Højbjerg surges forward and feeds Redmond whose jinking run tees up Armstrong to shoot straight at the Arsenal stopper. Better from the home side...
Redmond shot deflected behind
A positive start here for Saints! Nathan Redmond is the latest to get forward, he scampers into Arsenal territory and wins a corner off the legs of Stephan Lichtsteiner. The resulting delivery is eventually cleared.
Targett denied down the flank
Ralph Hasenhüttl said that it would not take much to crank up the volume at St Mary's and he is being proven correct here; Redmond feeds Targett to cross down the left but the full-back's effort is cleared by Torreira. Roars of approval from the home crowd.
McCarthy saves from Aubameyang!
It's been a frantic start here at St Mary's and Arsenal fashion the first chance of the game through Aubameyang whose darts in behind Yoshida and sees his half-volley denied by McCarthy.
We're up and running!
Saints have kicked off and Ralph Hasenhüttl's first home game is under way!
We're ready to go!
Saints are in a huddle while Arsenal, in their turquoise away kit, are in position. Stuart Armstrong will get the game under way!

12.14Pre-match reading material
Ralph Hasenhüttl is the cover star for Sunday’s matchday programme, as the new Southampton manager takes charge of his first home match against Arsenal.
Elsewhere, Oriol Romeu speaks about his return to the starting line-up in last week’s trip to Cardiff, and gives a player’s perspective on life under Hasenhüttl so far.
Youngster Seamas Keogh is the latest Academy starlet to tackle our 20-question feature, while we go back in time with Calum Chambers, who has connections to both clubs, to revisit his earliest ambitions as an aspiring youngster at Staplewood.
Last time out at St Mary's
Saints earned a draw for their efforts against Arsenal almost exactly a year to the day at St Mary's. Charlie Austin's opener looked to have set up all three points only for Olivier Giroud to net an equaliser two minutes from time.
10.53Back in the frame!
Team news will be with you, as ever, one hour before kick-off where the headline is likely to be the return to fitness of Danny Ings. Saints' leading scorer joined Shane Long and Cédric in putting himself back in the frame for today's game, a welcome boost for all.
10.32Intensity rising
There was nothing left out on the Staplewood pitches over this past week where Saints have prepared from Monday to Saturday for today's encounter with Unai Emery's side. Intensity and organisation were the watchwords for Ralph Hasenhüttl and his side will need to show both to be in with a chance.

Hasenhüttl: We must show our best for 95 minutes
The Austrian could not have asked for a tougher prospect than Arsenal for his first appearance at St Mary's; the Gunners are unbeaten in 22 matches in all competitions but Saints come into the game with a heavy body of work behind them in preparation...
10.20Spieltag!
