PENALTIES will decide who will meet Leicester City in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.
THREE minutes of added time to come!
Tension at unbearable levels around Goodison Park as we tick towards the final whistle. Is there a winner in this game?
Late chaos
Gunn and Richarlison converge on a loose ball 30 yards from goal. The Saints man gets there first but his clearance almost cannons back into open space for the Brazilian...
EVERTON 1-1 SAINTS (Walcott 86')
Equaliser. Walcott scurries onto Niasse's through pass to slot past Gunn from the right edge of the penalty area.
GOAL
Theo Walcott (85’) | 1 – 1

Davis denied at the near post
Ings's pass for Lemina is overhit but the Gabonese midfielder recovers brilliantly to shimmy away from his marker and almost pick out Steven Davis at the near post...
Yellow Card for Jan Bednarek (Southampton)
Bednarek the latest player to go into the book for a foul midway through the Saints half.
Kenny flashes wide
Everton right on top now. The ball breaks and the space clears for Jonjoe Kenny to stride forward and arrow a shot past the post from distance. Based on Gunn's reaction, that can't have been far away.
Saints battling to preserve lead
It all goes a bit backs-to-the-wall as Everton toss cross after cross into the Saints penalty area. Bednarek is there to deny Tosun and Richarlison fouls Cédric moments later to ease the pressure...
Ings ⚡️Gabbiadini
Chest to chest, flick to flick, superb link-up from the Saints pair. The Italian feeds the ball over the top for Ings whose set-up for Cédric is volleyed into the legs of Kurt Zouma.
Gunn firing on all cylinders
Really solid showing from Angus Gunn so far tonight. The keeper saved brilliantly from Lookman at the start of the half and has just denied Oumar Niasse from long range.
Stekelenburg claws away Stephens header!
Stekelenburg somehow reaches to tip the unmarked Jack Stephens's header over the bar before Mario Lemina drags inches wide from the edge of the box. The next goal is MASSIVE...
The moment Ings gave Saints the lead...
A superb finish from Ings has Saints leading on his return to Merseyside. That's two goals in as many appearances for the striker against Everton this season.
Gunn saves from Lookman
A fabulous save from Angus Gunn keeps the scores level! The England U21 'keeper powers off his line to smother Lookman's half-volley!
Stephens heads clear
Niasse's first contribution is to go racing away down the right, producing a dangerous cross that needs Stephens to step in and head clear with Tosun lurking.
The second half is under way!
We're back up and running at Goodison, where Saints lead by Danny Ings's timely goal on the stroke of half time.
HALF-TIME: EVERTON 0-1 SAINTS
The perfect end to the half for Saints who go into the break in front thanks to Danny Ings's snooker shot into the far corner...

YESS!! Everton 0-1 Saints!
Saints lead and it's that man Danny again! Redmond squares for the striker in the box to slide a perfectly-placed finish into the bottom corner!
GOOOAL!!!
Danny Ings (43’) | 0 – 1
BIG CHANCE FOR SAINTS!
A lazy Everton pass in midfield and suddenly Saints break in behind. Gabbiadini threads it through for Redmond whose near-post shot is saved by Maarten Stekelenburg. Big chance at the end of the half....
Yellow Card for Morgan Schneiderlin (Everton)
Gabbiadini's neat turn escapes the attentions of Schneiderlin and the Frenchman is forced into fouling the Italian.
Better from Saints!
Saints' best stuff has been coming down the left and Matt Targett shows why. The youngster steams to the byline and cuts back for Gabbiadini who has the ball stolen off his toes by Michael Keane.
Everton come again
More attacking play from the home side and it's Bernard and Lookman involved once more. The Brazilian floats a cross towards the back post where Matt Targett does superbly to flick a header away from danger and the lurking winger behind him.
Lookman inches wide
Well, that's the closest anyone has come...Ademola Lookman checks inside onto his left foot and whips an effort beyond the diving Angus Gunn and thankfully the far post too.
Everton probing
Patient stuff from the home side around the Saints penalty area as the busy Bernard hustles the ball into the feet of Davies whose curling shot bounces harmlessly wide of the far post.
Gunn denies Bernard
A first real chance here for the hosts as Brazilian Bernard shuffles into space for a shot with Angus Gunn beats away for a corner.
Redmond shoots wide
Positive play from Redmond, who surges forward from midfield and shoots from distance, but he doesn't catch it well enough and drags it wide.
Tosun caught offside
Everton are certainly coming into the game now. After Bernard delivers a poor cross from the left, Tosun makes a run in behind the Saints defence from the next attack but the flag goes up.
Better from Everton
The hosts have been slow out of the blocks, but a slick passing move down the right brings a first ripple of applause from the home support. Gunn still yet to be tested in the Saints goal.
Ings goes close!
First chance is a Saints chance... Ings latches on to a clever ball in behind the defence, but is denied by former Saints stopper Stekelenburg, who saves the striker's left-footed shot with his legs. No question which team is on the front foot so far.
Early pressure from Saints...
The visitors have started confidently, forcing two corners already and controlling the early possession. Let's keep this up 👊
We're under way at Goodison!
Saints are already on the attack... come on boys!
Who scored Saints' last winner on this ground?
Many of you voted in our earlier poll and the answer was... Kevin Davies! The big man embarked on a mazy run from the halfway line through the Everton defence to help Saints secure a 2-0 win back in 1997. Well done those who guessed correctly! 😇

18.1317.49we played with players who were 20 or 21 years old against fulham. it is hard but, for them to develop, they have to play. in some moments they make mistakes, but in this way they can grow as players.
