The visitors play for time while not many decisions are going the way of the hosts either.

The full back breaks into the Hammers half, but is flagged by the match official as he tried to make a break forward.

Cédric moves the ball forward as Saints continue to push for a way back into the game.

The defender goes up for an acrobatic effort from a delivery on the left, but sees his effort go over the crossbar.

The frontman goes up for a header which is blocked and then cleared behind for a corner.

Long range shot from the captain which arrows towards goal and Randolph does well to keep hold of it, with Saints players ready to pounce on any rebound.

Shane Long receives Gabbiadini's pass down the right side, and the smashes a low shot narrowly past the left post.

Ward-Prowse denied

A good move from Saints down the right sees Davis find Cédric whose cross for the midfielder, was headed at goal by Ward-Prowse, and Randolph tips the ball over.

The midfielder whips in another testing delivery, but Randolph is underneath it.

Southampton substitution: Shane Long replaces Sofiane Boufal

A second change of the afternoon for Saints.

Boufal down

The Moroccan has stayed grounded following a foul on him just inside the Saints half. He then makes his way off the pitch to receive further treatment.

The ball falls to the striker as the clearance from Boufal's cross falls to him, but his shot flies over Randolph's crossbar.

Davis goes for goal

The midfielder strides forward and takes a shot from distance, but his effort goes well over the bar.

Better from Saints

A swift move down the left sees Boufal, Redmond and Bertrand combine to tee up Gabbiadini, but the striker's shot is blocked inside the area.

Gabbiadini flagged

The striker gets a firm connection to a header at goal which Randolph saves, but a free-kick goes against the striker for a foul.

Ward-Prowse takes aim

The resulting free-kick sees Ward-Prowse attempt to whip in a shot at the near post,which Randolph turns past the post.

Redmond involved immmediately

The substitute makes his presence felt with a run down the left where he is brought down by Kouyaté.
