Former clubs: Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, Swansea City, Orlando Pirates

A highly-respected goalkeeping coach, Andrew Sparkes has gained significant experience throughout his career at a host of impressive clubs.

A UEFA ‘A’ Goalkeeping Licence holder, he spent six years as the Head of Academy Goalkeeping at New York Red Bulls, helping them become one of the leading academies in the United States, with a consistent reputation for producing goalkeepers for the country’s national youth sides.

Sparkes also spent a year working with the dominant Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, as Under-18 Goalkeeper Coach, before returning to his homeland, Wales, as Head of Academy Goalkeeping.

Six years with the Swans followed, before becoming First Team Goalkeeping Coach at South African giants Orlando Pirates in the summer of 2018.

Sparkes then arrived at St Mary’s in July 2019, when he was appointed First Team Goalkeeping Coach for Southampton.
